What Is Plantar Fasciitis?

It is surprising just how many people suffer from issues with their feet. What is also surprising is for how long people will put up with them without getting anything done about it. One issue which can be very debilitating is soreness of the sole and heel area, the technical term for which is plantar fasciitis.

This is actually a chronic inflammation of the sole and foot muscles at the point of the attachment of the plantar fascia to the heel bone. If you have this kind of soreness in other parts of the body, you could fairly easily cure it by resting it.

However, when it is in your foot, you don’t have the chance to rest it because you only make things worse with every step that you take. This is particularly the case if you have a job which involves standing such as working in a retail store or as a waiter or waitress.

The answer to this, as with any other issues with the feet and toenails, is podiatry in London. At The Harley Street Foot And Nail Clinic, our team of podiatrists led by Marion Yau, can assess the cause of your condition. This can be for one of a number of different reasons. You might have tight calf muscles, a problem with the heel spur, or a limited range of ankle movement.

Poor Walking Pattern

The issue could be that you have a poor walking pattern. Your podiatrist will want to check how you start off walking and how you change over from one foot to the other when walking.

Once the cause of the pain has been ascertained with podiatry in London, your podiatrist will then be able to provide you with the right treatment. This could include orthotic insoles which are designed to fit inside your footwear and are made using an impression of your own foot. Every patient is different, and so the insoles have to be created individually.

The fact is that you do not have to live with foot pain, but you do need to see a specialist in order to ascertain the cause and provide you with the correct treatment.

At The Harley Street Foot And Nail Clinic we can diagnose any and all issues that you may have with your feet, including ingrowing toenails, fungal infections, and many more. Don’t just put up with them: make an appointment to see Marion Yau.
